Kevin Kichinka was born in Cleveland, Ohio. After earning a B.A. in Economics from Bowling Green State University, he joined the U.S. Peace Corps and served in the Philippines for three years, first as a loan coordinator between the World Bank and local small businesses, then as a Track and Field Coach at Bicol University. Later, he searched for his muse trekking around Nepal, India, Thailand and into Myanmar (Burma). He first visited Costa Rica in 1985, moving there in 1991. During the next four years, he wrote about the environment and tourism for Costa Rica’s The Tico Times while operating a business leading volcano climbs and rainforest adventures. Returning to the USA, he owned a yacht brokerage, sold insurance and advocated for environmentally-sensitive land use policies, all in Fort Myers, Florida.  In the last few years he has led mountaineering and scientific expeditions to Bolivia and Guatemala. His book, The Art of Collecting Meteorites (see www.theartofcollectingmeteorites.com) continues to sell. He’s won awards performing classical music on the piano and purports that this skill translates well into the kitchen where he orchestrates fine meals.

La Quintana de Costa Rica is a walled, very private and secure residence that does not accept walk-in guests.  We are located near the small town of Tambor (not to be confused with the Guanacaste beach town of the same name) and are only fifteen minutes from the Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in Alajuela. Should you be arriving in a rental car, directions to La Q will be transmitted with your confirmed reservation.
